“With McClive’s vocals holding the songs together, the band shuffle between creaky blues, pre-war jazz, showtunes and folk – even finding room for hints of ska and western soundtracks.”
Songs that make you cry.
Songs that make you laugh.
Songs that will make you dance, cry and laugh together.
Born and raised in the Appalachian foothills of Western Maryland, Devon McClive has made her way westward to the land of honey and gold playing the cello and piano and singing all the while. She has been referred to as “velvet-voiced” and has been compared to artists such as Regina Spektor, Antony and the Johnsons and Aimee Man. Her songs ring of human emotion, vulnerability, and a touch of political flavor.
She has one solo EP, Quiet Bravery (2010) and one full length release with her band, Devon McClive and Sons, called Humankind (2011). Her song, Shine Through, was on a national television commercial for Ball Canning and aired in the summer of 2011. She tours frequently and is always searching for inspiration for new songs.
